Disturbing the Universe
So many yubinuki bases were made….
The universe knows I’m trying to record tutorials for my yubinuki intro course and has decided to destroy my hands, aka the only part of me you see in the videos. The list of casualties thus far:
Psoriasis flareup on both hands
Second-degree burn on left hand just under said psoriasis flare
Gouge on left index finger
Skinned knuckle of same index finger
Gouge on right middle finger
Glass cuts to right ring and pinkie fingers
Gravel cuts to left ring finger
Left with the prospect of re-filming hours of footage on the off chance I stop incurring small injuries, I’ve decided to surrender to the universe and accept the continuity disruption that is my ever-shifting collection of band-aids. Apologies in advance to anyone who takes the course. (Though I would like it stated for the record that none of these injuries have anything to do with making yubinuki. The only way you would hurt yourself making yubinuki is if you stabbed yourself with a needle. (Yes, I have stabbed myself with a needle, just not on camera.))
Filming proceeds slowly, but steadily. In the process, I realized one of the patterns I’d planned to include was too advanced for an intro course and swapped it for another, which I now need to film in addition to everything else. This project is so massive I am beginning to wonder if it would be better to release each of the five parts separately as their own standalone tutorials. Working this way would allow me to publish more quickly, and would give people more options if they were only interested in a specific pattern or technique. Once they’re all finished, I could still bundle the sections together as one big course bundle at a discounted price for those who want to learn everything.
…I have now talked myself into this. Barring unforeseen complications from the universe, I could have the first mini-course live at some point in the next two weeks. Fingers crossed!
